Publication Ethics

GENIUS: Journal of Educational Innovation and Learning is an academic platform for publishing scientific articles focused on educational innovation. This journal aims to be a valuable source of information for academics, researchers, and practitioners interested in the latest developments and important discoveries in the field of education.

As an open access journal based on peer review, GENIUS accepts contributions from various aspects of education, ranging from original scientific research to reviews and critiques of previously published ideas. Each article published reflects a commitment to empowering communities through education, with a focus on innovative ideas and new solutions.

This journal is published by Insight Publisher twice a year, in May and November, and strives to be a key contributor to the development of education by presenting revolutionary ideas and thoughts.

This ethical statement regulates the duties of all parties involved in publication, including the publisher, editor, reviewers, and authors, in accordance with Peraturan Kepala LIPI Nomor 5 Tahun 2014 (Regulation of the Head of LIPI No. 5 of 2014). This code of ethics emphasizes three main values: (i) Neutrality—free from conflicts of interest; (ii) Fairness—ensuring authorship rights are given to those who deserve them; and (iii) Honesty—free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).

All submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism, falsification, or omission of important materials, and must have a similarity index of less than 30%, as tested using plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin.

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers

  1. Determine the journal's name, scope of knowledge, accreditation, and other relevant aspects, if necessary.
  2. Define the editorial board membership.
  3. Establish a contract defining the relationships between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved.
  4. Respect confidentiality for researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Implement intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Develop guidelines for editor and reviewer conduct.
  8. Regularly publish the journal.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding for the journal’s sustainability.
  10. Build networks for collaboration and marketing.
  11. Complete all legal and licensing requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Meet the needs of both readers and authors.
  2. Work towards continuous improvement in publication quality.
  3. Implement processes to ensure the quality of published manuscripts.
  4. Uphold the freedom of expression and ensure objectivity.
  5. Maintain the academic integrity of authors’ work.
  6. Provide corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, or apologies when necessary.
  7. Be responsible for the style and format of manuscripts, while the content and statements within are the responsibility of the authors.
  8. Actively seek feedback from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality.
  9. Encourage evaluations of the journal based on emerging findings.
  10. Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Review manuscripts assigned by the editor and provide assessments for determining the suitability of articles for publication.
  2. Reviewers must not assess manuscripts that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Maintain confidentiality regarding the review process, including sharing corrections, suggestions, and recommendations.
  4. Encourage authors to make necessary revisions to their manuscripts.
  5. Re-review revised manuscripts according to the standards set by the journal.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Ensure that those listed as authors meet the necessary criteria.
  2. Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including methodology, analysis, and details.
  3. Declare the sources of funding, both direct and indirect.
  4. Explain the limitations of the research.
  5. Respond professionally and promptly to reviewer comments.
  6. Notify the editor if they wish to withdraw their manuscript.
  7. Declare that the submitted manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.
